Surge to host RecFest 2023 for SLC Staff and Students

Surge Athletics and Engagement invites you to join us on Friday, March 17th as we host SLC RecFest 2023.  

  • This is a Tri-Campus event, being hosted on Kingston Campus. ALL SLC STAFF AND STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE! 

  • FREE Bus Transportation provided for Cornwall/Brockville participants.  

  • Registration is FREE. All participants receive team t-shirts, snacks, dinner, awards and prizes.

EVENT FORMAT/ACTIVITIES 

Round Robin Style Tournament Round Robin Play: Each team to play up to five 30-minute matches. All teams make round 1 of playoffs based on round robin standings and elimination will occur thereafter. 

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 

  • 7:15am - Bus Departure from Cornwall Campus 

  • 8:30am - Bus Departure from Brockville Campus 

  • 10:00am - Team Arrival & Registration 

  • 10:30am - Opening Ceremonies 

  • 11:00am - Round Robin Play 

  • 2:00pm - Playoff Rounds  

  • 4:00pm - Social & Awards Ceremony at St. Larry's Pub 

  • 5:30pm - Team Departure 

ACTIVITIES 

There will be up to 10 activities taking place during Round Robin Play. 

Playoff Rounds will consist of one activity per round. 

Activities to be played will remain TOP SECRET until the day of the event. Teams will be notified of the activities upon arrival. There will be a mix of traditional/non-traditional sports and active/non-active recreational activities and games. 

SOCIAL & AWARDS CEREMONY 

A post-event Social & Awards Ceremony will take place following the playoff rounds at St. Larry's Pub. A "munchie" style dinner will be provided to all tournament participants, staff and volunteers.

REGISTRATION & TEAM MAKE-UP 

All teams must consist of a minimum of 6 players to a maximum of 8, with no more than 4 players of the same gender.

INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEEERING? 

We are looking for volunteers to assist us on the day of the event. Positions include:  

  • Set-Up Crew 

  • Registration/Scoring 

  • Activity Leader

A volunteer meeting will take place on Thursday, March 16th at 6:00pm in the gym.
